People involved in Atheism adhere to this description:
"Atheism: Atheism came out of a sequence of social and intellectual evolution. Arguably started with the Reformation, where the one 'official' way of thinking was successfully challenged, creating part of Europe where competing ideas flourished. Out of this came the ideas and philosophies of the Enlightenment, leading to the scientific and industrial revolutions whose benefits we see today. There are many people involved in the steps through this; to me one of the most interesting and influential was Baruch Spinoza, a Dutch philosopher of Sephardic Jewish refugee descent. He was one of the first to challenge the existence of a god as a thinking, intentional being, effectively proposing a form of deism. Radical at the time, he attracted a lot of criticism, but it broke the mould for other thinkers to go further."
Christians believe that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God which basically means that it is without error of any kind. We as humans may have a difficult time grasping some of the deeper nuggets buried in the Bible but that dose not mean something is untrue. Neither does denying anything (or everything) in the Bible in an attempt to justify one's own belief in Atheism. As is told to us in the Book of Matthew, "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it." The cult of Atheism appears to be a wide gate as mentioned in Matthew.
