Bible Mapping
The Bible is intimidating to new believers, and even to some who have been saved for years. Sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ requires the skill to navigate the Bible in such as way that new believers can follow along. A 'road map1' of verses that demonstrates to your evangelism prospects that they are lost and separated from God for all eternity. As a pastor once taught, "before you can get someone saved, you must first show them they are lost".
Mapping your Bible requires to the outreach teams to have small paperback Bibles with the following verses highlighted:
- 1 John 5:13
- Romans 3:10
- Romans 3:23
- Romans 5:12
- Romans 6:23
- Romans 5:8
- Romans 10:9-13
These verses listed above will allow you to show evangelism prospects they have a need for reconciliation with God, and then walks them through the steps to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior.
How To Map Your Bible
Mapping your Bible simply means marking the verses above in such a way as to allow you to travel through this list of seven verses quickly and efficiently. Making your way through the Bible easier will allow you to be at ease when witnessing to others.
Step one is to write 1 John 5:13 on the inside front cover of your pocket-sized paperback Bible. This verse is the first stop for your Bible map. Now on to the next stop, please turn to 1 John 5:13. Once you are there you need to highlight the full text using whatever color high lighter you feel is good for your vision in a variety of light sources. Also while you are on the page for 1 John 5:13 you need to write the next verse for our Bible map on the outer margin of the page on the right-hand side as you are viewing 1 John 5:13. The verse you should write is second on our list above which is Romans 3:10.
We are going to the same thing here on the page for Romans 3:10, mark the verse with your high lighter and then mark the next verse from our list above in the margin of the right-hand page. The next verse from the list is Romans 3:23.
Continue highlighting and referencing the verse until you reach the last verse. The last of your verses are Romans 5:12, Romans 6:23, Romans 5:8, Romans 10:9-13. You may have heard more experienced evangelism training teachers refer to this mapping as "The Romans Road".
Travel The Bible Map
Now that you have your Bible mapped out you should practice with it to get used to the placements the markings you just made. Plus you should do this to loosen the pages of a new Bible if you are using one. You will find yourself more at ease when witnessing to others now that you have mapped out your Bible. Prospects will also be at ease with your presentation of the Gospel to them because they can see you are prepared and competent in your efforts to teach them.
